I got this shirt from my husband, He doesn't want to use it anymore because there a smaall rip on the front. So I thought I use it to make skirt for Isabelle. I have this skirt already for few weeks in my mind, want to try it.
I made this small tutorial, not just for others that might want to try it but also for me, just in case I forget how to make it hehehe
What you need; man's shirt, fabric for lining, stretch fabric for waistband and elastic for the waistband.
First I cut the shirt in three pieces, no exact measurement here, depend on how big your man's shirt originally. Middle part (going to be used for the skirt) is about 60 x 41 cm

Cut the button part, with the right side together, sew it into a tube

From the sleeves, make 2 rectangular size 45 x 10 cm, fold in half, press and sew it into two ribbon, turn it around and press it again

Take scrap of fabric for lining, again there is no exact measurement here, mine is about 38 x 28 cm wrong side together, sew it into tube

Ruffled the skirt and sew together with the lining tube, good side inside

This is how the bottom of the skirt will looks like after you turn it to the good side

Do the same thing on the other end of the tube, this time wrong side inside, this will be the upper side

Now for the waistband, cut your stretch fabric 2 26 x 13, wrong side together, put the ribbon on the left and right side on the right side of the fabric (sounds complicated but it's not)

Sew/serge it together

Sew the waistband to the ruffled tube, good sides together

This is how it looks like

Finished the edge of the waistband with zigzag or serger, folded it inside and sew it round.

Don't forget to leave few cm open for the elastic to come in and out

String your elastic to the waistband, push it all the way through the waistband, sew it together

Sew the waistband closed... finished!!!
Admire your work... from front

from the back

This bubble skirt is for my 3,5 years old daughter. In The Netherlands that's about size 98-104. Sorry for my english, if there is anything unclear, please feel free to contact me
